A strong everyday earner for Air Canada flyers. You get 3x Aeroplan points on grocery stores, dining and Air Canada purchases, free first checked bags on Air Canada itineraries, and Aeroplan 25K status through your first full calendar year. The annual fee is $195. Status renewal after that requires $15,000 in yearly card spend.

This card suits people who fly Delta a few times a year and do not want to pay an annual fee. It earns 2X miles on purchases made directly with Delta and at restaurants, and 1X on everything else. There is no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee. The caveat: no free checked bag, no priority boarding and no lounge access, which is where the Gold card starts to pay for itself.

This card is for Delta loyalists who want lounge access and upgrade priority. It earns 3X miles on Delta purchases and 1X on everything else, so it is a benefits card more than an earning card. The annual fee is $650, with $175 for each additional card. The caveat: Sky Club access is capped at 15 visits per Medallion Year unless you spend $75,000 in a calendar year, and the companion certificate only arrives after renewal.

The middle child of United's lineup and the sweet spot for regular flyers. The $200 annual United travel credit and two free checked bags on every trip offset most of the $350 fee. You earn 10x total miles on United flights and can pick up two 10,000-mile award discounts a year. Lounge access is not included; that is the Club card's job.

This card is a lounge membership with a credit card attached. United Club access for you and a guest, first and second checked bags free, and Premier Access treatment cover the frequent flyer basics, while $925 plus in partner credits chips away at the $695 fee. If you are not in a United Club at least monthly, the Quest card is the smarter buy.

The card for people who fly Southwest constantly. You pick a Preferred seat at booking, upgrade to Extra Legroom inside 48 hours when available, and collect 7,500 anniversary points that cover a real chunk of the $229 fee. Spending earns 4X on Southwest and adds tier qualifying points toward A-List status.

This card is for frequent American Airlines flyers who live in Admirals Clubs. It earns 4X on AA purchases, rising to 5X after $150,000 in a year, and 12X on AAdvantage Hotels and Cars bookings. Lounge membership covers the primary cardmember with guests. The caveat: at $695, casual AA flyers cannot make the math work.

This card is for travelers who fly Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines at least once a year. The yearly $99 Companion Fare alone can cover the $95 annual fee many times over. Earning is 3 points per $1 with the airlines and 2 points per $1 on gas, EV charging, cable, streaming and local transit. One caveat: outside those categories the card earns just 1 point per $1.

The Summit is built for travelers who fly Alaska or Hawaiian internationally or in premium cabins. It earns 3 points per $1 on dining, foreign purchases and both airlines, and issues a 25,000-point Global Companion Award every account anniversary. Eight Alaska Lounge day passes and a seven-person free bag benefit round it out. The caveat is the $395 annual fee: casual flyers should start with the Ascent.

Made for flyers who book British Airways reward flights. You earn 3 Avios per $1 on British Airways, Aer Lingus and Iberia flights, and the card refunds up to $600 a year of taxes and fees on reward flights. The annual fee is $95. The Travel Together Ticket requires $30,000 in purchases in a calendar year.

Built for travelers who cross the Atlantic on Aer Lingus. You earn 3 Avios per $1 on Aer Lingus, British Airways and Iberia flights and start with a 75,000 Avios welcome offer. The annual fee is $95. The headline perk, an economy companion ticket, requires $30,000 in purchases in a calendar year.

Aimed at travelers who fly Iberia to Spain and beyond. You earn 3 Avios per $1 on Iberia, British Airways and Aer Lingus flights and open with a 75,000 Avios offer. The annual fee is $95. The $1,000 discount voucher needs $30,000 of spending in a calendar year, so it rewards households that run real volume through the card.
