Questions people ask

How is the future value calculated?
The page grows the present value at your annual rate, compounded at the frequency you pick, for the number of years you set. It adds the future value of the deposits, which are made once per compounding period.
How often are deposits added?
Once per compounding period. With monthly compounding the deposit goes in each month; with annual compounding it goes in once a year. Compounding Periods shows how many deposits the result assumes.
What do From the Lump Sum and From the Deposits show?
They split the future value into the part that comes from your present value and the part that comes from the regular deposits, with interest included in each.
Does the result account for taxes or inflation?
No. Those are not inputs here, so the future value is a nominal figure before any tax.
