Questions people ask

How does the page split my income?
It multiplies your monthly take-home pay by the three shares you set for needs, wants, and savings and debt payoff. The defaults are 50, 30 and 20, and you can change any of them.
Should I enter gross pay or take-home pay?
Take-home pay, after taxes. The input asks for it, and every target on the page is a share of that figure.
What does Unallocated Each Month mean?
It is take-home pay minus what you spend now on needs, wants and savings. A negative number means you spend more than you bring in, and the page shows a note.
What if my three shares do not add up to 100%?
The page still computes each target but shows a note with the total, so you can adjust the split until it covers your whole take-home pay.
