This card is for regular Delta flyers who want a path to Medallion status and a second ticket each year. It earns 3X miles on Delta purchases and at hotels, 2X at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets, and 1X elsewhere. The annual fee is $350. The caveat: the companion certificate arrives after your first renewal, and it covers Main Cabin only, with taxes and fees paid by you.

- You book hotels through Delta Stays and eat at Resy restaurants, so the $270 of credits is easy to use.
- Your hotel spend is large and you want 3X miles on it without a hotel-brand card.
- You should skip this card if you fly solo and never use the credits. The Gold card gives the checked bag and boarding perks for far less.

The Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card is built around two things: a companion ticket every year and a shortcut to Medallion status. This review checks whether the $350 fee is covered by the credits and the certificate for a typical Delta household.
How You Earn
Delta and hotel spend earn 3X, everyday dining and groceries earn 2X, and every purchase also earns MQDs toward status.
