This card is for people who fly American now and then and want to collect AAdvantage miles without paying a fee. It earns 2 miles per $1 at grocery stores and on eligible American Airlines purchases, 1 mile on everything else, and 25% off inflight food and drinks. New cardmembers get a $100 statement credit plus 15,000 bonus miles after $500 in purchases in the first 3 months. The caveat: purchases abroad carry a 3% foreign transaction fee, which is awkward on an airline card.
