[Update] Marcus Raised Its 3 to 6 Year CDs to 4.35% APY, Up From 4.00%

Data point. One change, one source, one takeaway. Checked September 5, 2026.

Marcus by Goldman Sachs moved its long certificates on September 3. The 3, 4, 5 and 6 year High-Yield CDs now pay 4.35 percent APY, up from 4.00 percent the week before. The 9 month term went from 4.10 to 4.30 percent, and the 18 month and 2 year terms from 4.30 to 4.35 percent. The minimum deposit stays at $500.

On $10,000 in a 5 year certificate, 4.35 instead of 4.00 percent is $35 more in the first year and about $206 more across the full term once the interest compounds. The change lands two weeks before the Federal Open Market Committee meets on September 16, the next scheduled decision on the federal funds rate.

For scale: the FDIC national average for a 12 month certificate was 1.71 percent as of August 17, 2026. High-Yield CDs charge a penalty on principal withdrawn before maturity. The No-Penalty line kept its own rates, at 3.75 percent for 7 months, 4.00 percent for 11 and 3.80 percent for 13.

The earlier rates come from our own check of the same Marcus page on August 28, 2026. Compare the term against the other banks on Banrox bank rates, look the institution up in the bank directory, or run your own deposit through the compound interest calculator.

Watch the rate, not the headline. The Banrox rates page reads CD and savings APYs off the banks' own pages and dates every number, so you see the move the week it happens instead of a month later.
